Bir is a small town in Himachal Pradesh, famous for paragliding and Tibetan culture. There are different ways to reach Bir, depending on your mode of transport and starting point. Here are some of the common options:
By Flight:
The nearest airport to Bir is Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala, which is about 68 km away. You can take a taxi or a bus from the airport to Bir. However, this airport has limited flight connectivity, so you may have to book a flight to Chandigarh, Amritsar, or Delhi and then take a bus or train to Bir.
By Train:
The nearest railway station to Bir is Ahju, which is only 3 km away, but it is on a narrow-gauge line. The nearest broad gauge station is Pathankot, which is about 142 km away. You can take a toy train from Pathankot to Ahju, or a taxi or bus from Pathankot to Bir.
By Road:
Bir is well connected by road with major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla. You can take a direct bus or taxi from these places to Bir, or break your journey at Kangra or Baijnath, which are nearby towns. The road journey from Delhi to Bir takes about 12 hours
